Our history
I am Zandra Mar and this is a small piece of my My name is Zandra Mar, and this is a small part of my story.
Bella Magnolia was born out of the pain I felt at my father’s passing during the 2022 pandemic—one of thousands of sad stories from that difficult time. An unexpected loss far from my family and my country, Colombia, in this beautiful country that has welcomed thousands of immigrants, where I came to be with my husband, a U.S. citizen and veteran.
With the pain of remembering Dad and his last hug on the day of my trip, promising that we would see each other again soon—never imagining that I would see him for the last time through the cold screen of my phone shortly before his death—I felt overwhelmed and bewildered. The pain didn’t take long to set in, even though I knew that God is always good and had learned to rest in His promises. It seemed inevitable to experience such sadness as I meditated day after day on how the whole situation unfolded, leading to Dad’s passing, to the point of feeling suffocated. I knew then that I had to trust once again in God’s good and perfect will, treasure the sweet memories I have of Dad, and focus on exploring a new form of expression through my passion… art and design.
So I looked for a small piece of clay that I had been saving for a while and simply began to envision and shape my first earrings, created through tears born of pain. Later, I met other people online who were already working in this artistic style, which later inspired and motivated me to keep creating one piece after another, without stopping, to the point of shaping the story of Bella Magnolia Design, as a new encounter between art and strength, in the face of pain.
What began as a distraction to force me to confront the difficult emotions I was experiencing at the time became a new form of artistic expression for me and a brand that takes its name from beauty and from my mother’s name—the woman who continues to fill the hearts of my beautiful family with love. I am certain that a great source of inspiration for millions of people around the world is that indelible mark a mother leaves on the hearts of those blessed to have her.
Today, Bella Magnolia aspires to accompany the beauty of all women as they emerge, filling the world with that incredible blend of delicacy and strength. Each piece is a trait, a personality, an emotion, a moment, a life... an extra touch of grace for the women who continue to inspire the world.
